Breast Care Nurse – Community Nursing


East Grampians Health Service is seeking applications from Registered Nurses with experience, or an interest in breast care nursing. This is a limited tenure part time position, 16 hours per week from July 2026 to September 2026.

Community Nursing is a part of the broader Community Services Department based in Ararat. We provide community nursing across the catchment area of Ararat Rural City. Community nursing includes palliative care, district nursing, hospital in the home, hospital admission risk program (HARP), home care packages and specialist nursing programs. Each program area aims to provide awareness and education which enables community members to have a better understanding of their own health issues and thus take greater responsibility for improving their own health outcomes

About The Role

This role is to provide information and ongoing support relating to all aspects of breast care for women with breast cancer:

  • In an equitable, sensitive and culturally safe manner
  • Working collaboratively with other services and programs
  • Clarifying or reinforcing information
  • Providing continuity of care throughout the continuum of care, including diagnosis, treatment, recovery follow up and support throughout the metastatic disease trajectory

About You

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA, Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • At least five (5) years post registration experience in surgery or oncology would be beneficial but we are happy to discuss this with applicants, especially if they are currently working in either of these fields.
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in breast care nursing or cancer nursing, or a willingness to complete further studies to obtain this would be beneficial, but we are happy to discuss this with applicants.

Appointment is subject to immunisation clearance and current and satisfactory Employment Checks (Police, Working With Children Checks and NDIS Worker Screening Check).
