Womens Sexual & Reproductive Health Hub



The EGHS Women’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Hub can help you with all types of contraception, sexual health testing and treatment, medical abortion and surgical abortion of pregnancy. It is available for all Victorian women, girls and gender diverse people throughout the community.  All consultations are free and confidential.

Services available

No referral is required for the following services:

  • Contraception advice (including emergency contraception)
  • Implanon insertion and removal
  • Mirena/ Kyleena and Copper IUD insertion and removal
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Pregnancy options and counselling (whether your pregnancy is planned or unplanned)
  • Medical abortion up to 9 weeks of pregnancy
  • Surgical abortion up to 12 weeks of pregnancy – we can help arrange surgical terminations in Melbourne after this gestation
  • Sexual health treatment and support – including sexually transmissible infection (STI) screening

Your GP may also refer to this clinic for:

  • Advice on menopause treatment and prescription of hormone therapy
  • Uncontrolled heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Problems with falling pregnant or recurrent miscarriage

Please note we are not a GP clinic. For all other issues, please see your GP. We do not provide repeat scripts, even if we have seen you at this clinic before.

Location of service

The clinic is run at the EGHS Community Health Centre – 5 Girdlestone St, Ararat.

Cost of services

All services offered at the hub are free.  However, there may be fees for services you are referred to – these may include, medications, blood tests and ultrasounds.

Making an appointment

Your privacy matters to us. We recognise that this may be a sensitive matter.
Please be assured that all calls to this number are answered exclusively by Women’s Health Hub staff.
Your confidentiality is our priority.

All appointments are by booking only.

To make an appointment, call (03) 5352 9430 and you will be asked to leave a message with your details. Please include your name, date of birth, phone number, best way to contact you and your reason for presenting.

We offer telehealth for certain appointments so please let us know if this is your preferred method of appointment.

If you have an urgent medical issue, please contact the Ararat Urgent Care Centre. The clinic currently runs every Monday and Friday.

Women who speak a language other than English

If you need an interpreter, call TIS National on 13 14 50. Ask for an interpreter and then ask to be connected to the Community Health Centre at East Grampians Health Service.

What to bring to your appointment

Bring your Medicare card and any concession cards you may have. If you are coming for an Implanon or Mirena insertion you will need to purchase this yourself and bring it to the appointment. You are welcome to bring a support person with you.

If you can, come with a full bladder in case you need an ultrasound scan.

What happens at your appointment

You may see a GP (doctor) or nurse depending on the service you need.

You may be asked to fill out some forms about your medical history. Any information you provide is confidential.

If you would prefer to see a female staff member, please advise us when making your booking. Most appointments take 30 minutes.
