Long serving volunteer at the Patricia Hinchey Centre, Joy Ambrose, was farewelled in style on September 1 with a morning tea.
Since 2002 Joy has been visiting the Patricia Hinchey Centre every week for the Thursday Reading Group.
Reading mainly from the ‘Friendship Diary’, Joy would entertain clients with short stories; some humorous, some to make you think, many just ‘plain common sense’, according to Joy.
Joy is leaving Ararat to move to Western Australia to live with family but said she will really miss all the people at the Centre.
“You get to know each individual and they really like the personal touch,” Joy said.
Manager of the Patricia Hinchey Centre Jacinta Harman said Joy would be missed.
“We really appreciate all her work over the years and her dedication to the reading group,” she said.
Joy was presented with flowers and a certificate of appreciation from the Centre, as well as a letter of thanks from CEO Nick Bush presented by Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Harrison.
