Staff receive bursaries

The East Grampians Health Service Building for the Future Foundation awarded bursaries to two staff at the annual general meeting.

The two $10,000 bursaries were awarded to Jess Sladdin, who will be undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, and Cassandra Stewart, who will be a undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing.

The Foundation, which supports EGHS by raising and allocating funds to build the future of the health service, has awarded 16 bursaries since its inception, to assist staff in upskilling and building their skills to provide extended capacity to the organisation.

Foundation chair David Hosking congratulated the two recipients of this year’s bursaries.

“One of the key areas we have focused on is to build the skills of nurses to undertake midwifery – a lack of midwives has been listed as a risk for EGHS. Another workforce shortage is in aged care.

“This is why our bursaries this year have been awarded to staff wishing to upskill in both of these areas.”
