Nurse training awaiting accreditation

Australian Catholic University, Community (ACUcom) in partnership with East Grampians Health Service (EGHS), is planning to deliver the Diploma of Nursing program in Ararat commencing March 2016.   Graduates of the program will be eligible to register as an Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.

Chief Executive Nick Bush explained that enrolments will commence when ACUcom has received final accreditation from Australian Nursing Midwifery Council. Mr Bush stressed the importance of nurse training for ensuring the sustainability of a qualified health workforce into the future.

EGHS Education Manager, Heather Phillips confirmed that subject to accreditation, the Diploma of Nursing program would be delivered on a full time basis. Classes will be on Monday to Thursday, 9.30 am – 2.30 pm at the Ararat Hospital. Clinical placements will also be provided to offer a diverse range of clinical experiences in a supportive and friendly environment. A dedicated Clinical Teacher will provide supervision for students during their placement.
