New Obstetrician for Health Service

East Grampians Health Service has welcomed a new G.P. Obstetrician onto its team.  Dr Chee Sheng Wong, a partner at the Ararat Medical Centre has graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Obstetrics.

Dr Chee Sheng Wong undertook the training at Ballarat Health Services for 12 months and can undertake normal deliveries and caesarean section operations.  EGHS CEO, Nick Bush highlighted his delight that Dr C.S. Wong had commenced on the roster to strengthen obstetrics in Ararat.  Mr Bush said, “I thank Dr Wong for undertaking the training in Ballarat for 12 months and for the upheaval to himself, his wife Anita and their children.  I thank them for their support.”

Dr. Eric Kennelly, Director of Medical Services at East Grampians Health Service also thanked the Ararat Medical Centre Doctors and staff for supporting Dr Wong to take 12 months leave from the clinic.

 

Dr Wong said” he was very pleased to qualify and will be able to provide care to Ararat and district women.”  Dr Wong will assist Dr Pretorius, Dr Connellan and Dr Pope on the obstetrics roster.

Mr Bush thanked the G.P. Obstetricians for their commitment to the Health Service and made particular mention of Dr Pretorius who has carried much of the on-call responsibility as he was the only Doctor with caesarean section capability.  Mr Bush thanked Dr Pretorius for the great dedication he has shown to the women of the catchment area of EGHS and for being on-call so regularly over the last 12 months.
