NAIDOC Week celebrated in food

During NAIDOC Week East Grampians Health Service celebrated Australia’s Indigenous foods.

The Cafe Pyrenees team, lead by Leonie Clayton, cooked up a range of delicious meals inspired by Indigenous foods.

Tempting treats included emu burgers, saltbush dukkah crusted kangaroo salad and warrigal greens, crispy whitebait and tartare sauce, crispy wallaby skewers, seared emu salad with cranberry dressing, salt bush damper and double choc saltbush cheesecake.

NAIDOC Week celebrations were held across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.

East Grampians Health Service acknowledges the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, Jupagalk and Eastern Maar peoples as the Traditional Custodians of these lands. We acknowledge that their holistic approach to health; harmony between body, mind, spirit and environment, has been practiced on these lands for thousands of years. We thank past and present Elders for this knowledge to help improve health and wellbeing for all Australians.
