Heartbeat Group helps Health Service

The Ararat and District Heartbeat Support Group recently donated a trolley to the Community Centre at East Grampians Health Service. It allows the exercise weights that are used by the Centre’s rehabilitation programs to be stored in a safe manner, accessible and easily transported.

East Grampians Health Service Chief Executive Officer, Mr Nick Bush said “the weights are used for the rehabilitation programs that are run at the Community Health Centre. Programs including Cardiac Rehabilitation and Healthy Hearts Program/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation and exercise maintenance groups. The weight’s trolley will be of great benefit to all who patronage the Centre.”

Mr Bush highlighted that “over the years the Ararat and District Heartbeat Support Group have donated exercise bikes, treadmills and numerous other pieces of equipment for the Community Centre. They also recently donated $500 towards Michael Kelly, who represented East Grampians Health Service in this year’s Murray to Moyne Relay Bike Ride.”

East Grampians Health Service Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator Mrs Caroline Hamilton said “It’s great to have such a committed group as the Ararat and District Heartbeat Support Group who offer great social support to those who have had a cardiac event.”

The Ararat and District Heartbeat Support Group has been running for 18 years and boasts 45 members. They meet bimonthly and distribute a monthly newsletter keeping its members up to date with current events.
