Graduate nurses start work at EGHS

Eight RN nursing graduates commenced the Graduate Nurse Program at EGHS in February.

Four EN nursing graduates also commenced a graduate nurse program that EGHS is conducting in partnership with Beaufort and Skipton Health Service (BSHS).

RN graduate nurses experience clinical rotations in the following departments: 70 Lowe Street, In-patient Unit, Peri-operative Unit, Community Nursing and Willaura Health Care.

“RN graduates complete the ‘Care of the Older Person’ (COOPs) program which complements their graduate nurse program,” Manager Training and Development Claire Sladdin said.

“It brings graduate RNs together, from many different health services across the region, to learn and develop their skills in caring for the complex needs of older people.

“Some graduate nurses are completing two units and some are completing all four units which will contribute to the successful completion of a post-graduate degree in Gerontology by the completion of their graduate year.”

EN graduate nurses experience clinical rotations in the following departments: 70 Lowe Street, Garden View Court Hostel, Beaufort and Skipton.

The EN graduates complete the ‘Assessment Intervention Management for The Older Person’ (AIMTOP) program which complements their graduate program.

It is designed for ENs to learn and develop their skills in caring for the complex needs of older people.
