Graduate nurses commence at EGHS

Eight Graduate Registered Nurses commenced their Graduate Nurse Program at East Grampians Health Service last month.

Some of the new staff members are local and some are new to the Ararat community – so please welcome them if you see them around.

The nurses will rotate through clinical areas such as Inpatient Unit, Urgent Care Centre, 70 Lowe St, Willaura Health Care, Community Nursing and Theatre.

“As part of the Graduate Nurse Program, they will complete a program called ‘Care of the Older Person Program’ – which provides the new nurses will the opportunity for them to network with graduates from around the Grampians region,” EGHS manager training and development Claire Sladdin said.

“Throughout their graduate year, they are supported clinically and professionally by the clinical support nurse/educators in the EGHS Education team.”

One Graduate Enrolled Nurse has also commenced a Graduate Nurse Program with 12 others to join her as part of a mid-year intake later this year.
