East Grampians Health Service staff were awarded for long service at the 29th Annual General Meeting.
Staff were awarded for years of service ranging from 10 years up to an impressive 45 years by Orderly Mark Scown, followed closely by 40 years’ service by HARP coordinator Margaret Keith and Healthy@Home Care Assistant Jacinta Harman.
Mark Scown started at Ararat and District Hospital on January 4 1979.
He was first employed as a cleaner in the Day Centre, following which he worked as a cleaner in most departments before becoming a permanent cleaner on first floor.
In September 1985, Mr Scown applied for and was successful in obtaining the position of Orderly, which he still holds today, 45 years on.
He has worked with numerous staff over this time and has seen many changes throughout the organisation, including a name change to East Grampians Health Service and the construction of a new hospital.
Long service recipients include: 10 years – Barbara North, Emma Clarke, Julie Purcell, Roxanne Moos, Kelly Tillig; 15 years – Amanda Thomas, Peter Armstrong, Lisa Thompson, Deborah Bennett; 20 years – Michelle Maslen, Jessica Peters, William Joiner, Susan Klauss, Helen McPherson; 30 years – Alan Young, Nicole Carlyle, Kirsten Carr, Jenny-Lou Hinchliffe, Tracey Hunt; 35 years – Kathryn Hilliard, Garry Tierney, Tamara Day; 40 years – Jacinta Harman, Margaret Keith; 45 years – Mark Scown.
