Aged care residents learning about ‘germs’

Residents’ at 70 Lowe Street are learning about hand hygiene through the ‘GlitterBug’.

GlitterBug is a range of training products that are invisible to normal light (just like germs) but glow under UV light.

It helps teach people about germs and the importance of hand hygiene.

The introduction of GlitterBug at Lowe Street follows on from education sessions at Garden View Court, and is the outcome of an Infection Control support visit and is one of the actions put in place to include resident and visitor education around infection control.

Hand sanitizing stations have also been installed in the dining room at Garden View Court with residents encouraged to sanitise their hands before their meals.
