EGHS is seeking a suitably skilled applicant to join our Perioperative Unit as a Registered Nurse.

The Perioperative Services offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of the local community and the surrounding region. The perioperative services include two operating theatres, day procedure unit – 6 bays, central sterile supply department, recovery room – 4 bays and a renal dialysis suite – 7 chairs. We offer a range of surgical procedures performed by our resident and visiting surgeons, these include; general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, urology, dental, Ear nose and throat, caesarean section and certain emergency surgeries.

About The Role

  • Responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards for Practice.
  • Accept responsibility for own actions, recognise limitations in practice and ability and seek input from more experienced clinicians and help as necessary
  • Provide physical, emotional and environmental assistance for patients in addition to supporting the team through counselling and education
  • Plan, deliver, evaluate and review nursing care in partnership with the patient, their families, carers and the multidisciplinary team
  • Prioritise workload based on needs, acuity and optimal time for intervention and provide leadership and coordination of work for less experienced staff
  • Demonstrate accurate, complete and up-to-date documentation in line with EGHS policies and maintain a high documentation standard of all staff within the designated area
  • Provide leadership to the implementation of safety and quality initiatives
  • Undertake the admission and discharge of patients to a high standard as required

About You

  • Registered Nurse in Victoria with current APHRA registration
  • Commitment to a high standard of personal appearance and conduct that is clean, neat, tidy, punctual and respectful in language and manner towards staff, patients, residents and visitors
  • Demonstrated sound level of clinical nursing skills and ability to work safely and effectively within the designated area.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication, co-ordination and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute and practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to flexibility and innovation in practice including an evidence based approach to care
  • Demonstrate excellent computer literacy skills for use within the designated area
  • Recent knowledge, experience, and skills in Perioperative Nursing including Anaesthetic Assistance, Scout, Scrub and Recovery
  • Post-graduate qualification in a perioperative nursing – desirable

Appointment is subject to immunisation clearance and current and satisfactory Employment Checks (Police and Working With Children Checks and NDIS Worker Screening Check).
