We are seeking a suitably skilled applicant for our Perioperative Unit, as a Ward Clerk to perform duties of a clerical nature to assist in the efficient functioning of the Department. This position is up to full time hours.

The EGHS Perioperative Department offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of the local community and the surrounding region. Perioperative services include two operating theatres, a 6 bay day procedure unit, central sterile supply department, a 4 bay recovery room and a renal dialysis suite. We offer a range of surgical procedures performed by visiting surgeons. These include; general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, urology, dental, ear nose and throat, caesarean section and certain emergency surgeries.

About The Role
To provide administrative and clerical support to ensure the smooth functioning of the Preadmission Department within Perioperative Services. Duties involved in this position are general administrative tasks including but not exclusive to:
- Reception duties to internal and external customers
- Answer phone and direct calls as required
- Assist in the management of patient files and liaising with Health Information Services
- Verify personal information of patients
- Attend and minute meetings as required
- Send letters/information as directed
- Maintain office Policy and Procedure manuals ensuring new information is communicated to all staff in a timely manner
- Coordinate admissions and discharge paperwork
- Liaise with other departments and schedule appointments as required
- Collect and deliver mail to and from mail area
About You
- Excellent computer skills demonstrating competence in the Microsoft Office suite programs
- Experience in general office duties including timely and accurate phone communication skills; phone systems, photocopiers, fax machines and scanners.
- Experience in financial matters including being familiar with raising sundry debtors
- Previous experience within a health service environment, medical terminology or formal qualification in office management is highly desirable
- Ability to work flexible hours
Appointment is subject to immunisation clearance and current and satisfactory Employment Checks (Police and Working With Children Checks and NDIS Worker Screening Check).
