EGHS is seeking applications for an Instrument Technician to work in the sterilizing department of our Perioperative Unit.

The EGHS Perioperative Department offers a wide range of services to meet the needs of the local community and the surrounding region. Perioperative services include two operating theatres, a 6 bay day procedure unit, central sterile supply department, a 4 bay recovery room and a renal dialysis suite. We offer a range of surgical procedures performed by visiting surgeons. These include; general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, urology, dental, ear nose and throat, caesarean section and certain emergency surgeries.

About The Role

In this role you will provide cleaning, packaging and sterilisation of reusable critical and semi-critical medical equipment within the central sterilising and supply department for both internal and external users.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Clean and restock equipment according to instruction and infection control guidelines.
  • Decontamination and sterilising of surgical and general medical equipment.
  • Decontamination and high level disinfection of flexible endoscopes.

About You

  • Ideally the successful applicant would have recent experience as an Instrument technician, Certificate III or IV in Sterilisation Services or working towards. 
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Applicants need to be flexible to the jobs needs whilst working within a small team. 
  • Excellent computer, communication and organisational skills and be able to complete tasks within set time frames.

Appointment is subject to immunisation clearance and current and satisfactory Employment Checks (Police, Working With Children Checks and NDIS Worker Screening Check).
