Residents at East Grampians Health Service’s aged care home Garden View Court are now enjoying the comfort of new lounge chairs thanks to a generous donation from Friends of Gum San.

Friends of Gum San recently donated $5280 towards four new lounge chairs at Garden View Court.

President Yvonne Robinson said Friends of Gum San donate to a charity every year and always looked for somewhere they felt they could make a difference.

“Each year we see if we can find a different need,” Ms Robinson said.

Garden View Court has recently undergone a refurbishment, with new dining chairs and tables, lounge chairs, and carpet throughout, as well as a fresh coat of paint through all common areas and new artwork and sideboards in the facility to make it more home-like.

Residents’ rooms are also gradually being refurbished throughout the facility.

Each residents’ door has been painted a different colour, matched with their ‘memory box’ beside the door, which act as way-finders for residents, helping them find their way to their rooms.

“On behalf of all our residents and staff, thank you to Friends of Gum San for your generous donation which has enabled us to purchase comfortable new chairs for our residents,” Garden View Court Manager Natalie Wohlers said.

“Garden View Court is looking amazing with the refurbishment and this new furniture blends beautifully and creates a warm and homely atmosphere in the lounge area for our residents to enjoy.”
