Toy Library donates to new EGHS Parenting Room

The East Grampians Health Service Ark Toy and Activity Library has donated funds towards the refurbishment of a new Parenting Room at EGHS.

The Toy Library donated $3000 towards the room, which is in a centrally located, secure and private area of the Ararat campus, and can be used by staff or visitors to the health service.

The space features comfortable furniture, a breastfeeding chair, change table, kitchenette and a fridge for expressed milk, and is a calm and quiet space in which parents can relax with their children.

For staff, it is a private space in which they can express milk, with the fridge available for storage.

EGHS Director of Human Resources Ros Bloomfield said it is a requirement to provide a space for staff, which is private, to be able to express and store milk and breastfeed their babies.

“As well as providing a space for our staff, we also wanted to be able to have a quiet area for visitors to the health service to also be able to use to breastfeed their babies or use the changing facilities,” she said.

“It has been wonderful to see the Toy Library’s support of, and interest in, this project and we thank them for their generosity in providing funding towards the refurbishment of the new Parenting Room.”
