Special reunion celebrating exceptional care at EGHS

Midwife Kristy McEvoy was thrilled to meet Junaidah again, two months after her birth, watched by proud parents Junaid and Zareena.

It was an extra-special reunion for staff at East Grampians Health Service when they welcomed back baby Junaidah and her parents, Junaid and Zareena.

Born at just 32 weeks in September, little Junaidah’s safe arrival was made possible by the skill, expertise and teamwork of the EGHS team.

Advice was obtained from the Paediatric Infant Perinatal Emergency Retrieval team, who decided the best outcome for the baby was immediate birth at Ararat rather than being transferred to Melbourne.

In a heartfelt letter of thanks, Junaid and Zareena shared their deep gratitude.

“We truly feel blessed and thankful to have been cared for by such an amazing team,” they said.

“EGHS is not just a hospital, it’s a family that stands with you in the most precious moment of life.”

Director of Clinical Services, Bec Peters, said the reunion was a wonderful reminder of the strength and capability within the organisation.

“We have a great team of highly skilled clinicians at EGHS who are well equipped to manage obstetric emergencies,” she said.

“The teamwork here is outstanding, with everyone pulling together to ensure good care and good outcomes across the whole health service.”

After hearing this uplifting patient story at the October Board meeting, EGHS Board members expressed their appreciation to staff across ultrasound in the Medical Imaging Department, the Inpatient Unit, as well as maternity and theatre staff, for their exceptional care and commitment.

“The reunion was not only a celebration of baby Junaidah’s progress, but also a testament to the dedication, professionalism and kindness of the EGHS team—qualities that continue to make a difference to families in our community,” Ms Peters said.
