Flying the flag for NAIDOC Week at EGHS

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of First Nation peoples.

NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about First Nation communities.

The 2022 NAIDOC Week theme is Get up! Stand up! Show Up! This theme encourages everyone to make a genuine commitment to support and secure institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative reforms.

East Grampians Health ServiceĀ is one of the first organisations in Ararat to raise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, at both the Ararat and Willaura campuses, and fly them proudly in front of our organisation.

This is the first step in the journey to making a strong commitment to providing culturally safe and appropriate healthcare to our First Nations community.

East Grampians Health Service acknowledges the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, Jupagalk and Eastern Maar peoples as the Traditional Custodians of these lands. We acknowledge that their holistic approach to health; harmony between body, mind, spirit and environment, has been practiced on these lands for thousands of years. We thank past and present Elders for this knowledge to help improve health and wellbeing for all Australians.
