Golf and Fun Run success

The annual East Grampians Health Service Charity Golf Day and Fun Run raised more than $2300 towards a pain relief administering pump.

The equipment will replace the current ageing pump, and benefit both theatre and midwifery patients at the health service.

The golf event attracted 20 teams of 60 players and the fun run more than 26 runners and walkers.

In the golf event the winners were the team of Michael Harricks, Peter Latham and Sam Cronin, but no one was lucky enough to drive home the car sponsored by Kings Cars Ararat, for a hole in one.

The fun run event saw Paul Fenn and Rhonda Rice the first male and female across the line in the six kilometre fun run, while Bronson Potter won the junior event.

The three kilometre walk saw Nicole Potter take first place, with Oscar Potter and Maggie Croft first juniors across the line.

East Grampians Health Service chief executive Andrew Freeman said it was great to see so many turn out for both the golf and fun run events.

“We had a great turn out and I would like to thank both the Chalambar Golf Club and Stawell and Ararat Cross Country Club for hosting the events and for their support of the health service,” Mr Freeman said.

“I would also like to thank our major sponsors, Kings Cars Ararat, Brian Thomas Electrical, ACE Radio and V/Line, as well as many other sponsors on the day, for their generosity.

“Without such strong support from the business community as well as the golfers, runners and walkers who turned out on the day, we would not be able to raise the funds we do from events such as this.”
