Visiting medical staff awarded for long service

Two visiting medical staff were presented with long service awards at the East Grampians Health Service annual general meeting.

Visiting Medical Officer Dr Neil Provis-Vincent was awarded for 20 years’ service as a general practitioner anaesthetist and Dr Charles Reid was awarded for 30 years’ service as a visiting dentist.

Dr Provis-Vincent regularly provides anaesthetic services at EGHS and is involved in pre-operative and post-operative care of inpatients.

He also provides on-call anaesthetic cover for inpatients, including obstetric patients and for outpatients attending the hospital’s Urgent Care Centre.

“I’ve had a great career at East Grampians Health Service and I enjoying anaesthetics very much,” Dr Provis Vincent said.

Dr Reid was born in the UK and trained at Liverpool University, working in general practice in Lancashire before moving to Australia in 1986.

He settled in Ararat 31 years ago and is grateful for the relationship that Ararat Dental has with East Grampians Health Service, allowing patients access to general anaesthetics when needed.

“We are lucky living in Ararat and this community and that we have this service, as a dentist in private practice,” he said.

Dr Reid is also a regular volunteer at EGHS, through riding annually in the EGHS Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay team and raising money for new equipment at the health service.
