Investment in 70 Lowe Street

East Grampians Health Service, Department of Health and Human Services and Philanthropic Foundation, and the Grosvenor Foundation are all investing in 70 Lowe St to implement the Montessori Model of residential aged care.

East Grampians Health Service Board President expressed his thanks to the Department of Health and Human Services for $100,000 and the Grosvenor Foundation $20,000 to which added to the Health Services contribution of $83,000 to implement this new model of Montessori Care. Mr. Wood highlighted his optimum for improving the way residential aged care delivered “We are looking forward to using these funds to support education through our staff and renovate 70 Lowe St to implement the Montessori residential aged care services.”

East Grampians Health Service, Chief Executive Officer, Nick Bush, said “The training has commenced for staff and already we are seeing changes in the care provided. The day to day care of our residents is for all staff – including the Chief Executive Officer in any way we can assist people lives to improve”.

Director of Clinical Services, Peter Armstrong, explained that the residents, staff and families are embracing the change, enjoyed the training and looking forward to the opportunities it provides.

The EGHS Aged Care Auxiliary has Mrs Mary Slater strong supporter of the Montessori Care System who presented at the Aged Care Auxiliary AGM on July 21. The EGHS board has organised Anne Kelly an expert in the Montessori Model of Care to present to the Health Service Annual General Meeting on November 24.
