EGHS Volunteers Recognised at State Awards

At the recent Minister for Health Volunteer Awards 2012, East Grampians Health Service was well represented with two nominees who were shortlisted for the awards.

President of The Patricia Hinchey Day Centre, Mrs Dianne Radford said “Gavin Anderson was nominated for ‘Outstanding Individual Achievement-Rural Service’ following almost 15 years of dedicated service to 70 Lowe Street, formerly known as John Pickford House in which Gavin had assisted in many ways. Gavin helped at meal times, carrying out equipment maintenance, coordinating activities and providing company and friendship for the residents. Gavin is a reliable and dedicated volunteer and an invaluable asset to our Health Service.”

Mrs Radford also said that “the Auxiliary was also nominated for ‘Outstanding Team Achievement-Rural Service’ in recognition of their fundraising efforts and support of the Day Centre. Since forming in 2006, the Auxiliary has raised in excess of $42,500.00, a true reflection of the incredible work and dedication of its members. Their efforts have seen a number of improvements implemented at the Centre including furniture and equipment upgrades, renovations, as well as the introduction of regular day trips which are highly anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed by the clients.

East Grampians Health Services Chief Executive Officer, Nick Bush, said he congratulates our two nominees for this prestigious award which highlights the significant contribution that our volunteers make to the care of our patients and residents.
