East Grampians Health Service is part of the Grampians Health Alliance (GHA), a partnership of eight hospital boards working together to improve, develop and grow shared health services across the region.
Other members of the Alliance include Ballan District Health & Care, Ballarat Health Service, Beaufort & Skipton Health Service, East Wimmera Health Service, Hepburn Health Service, Maryborough District Health Service and Stawell Regional Health (SRH)
Over recent times, due to increasing challenges for rural health services, shared services has evolved that now sees considerable benefits for residents across our region.
The GHA has a strong voice when it comes to advocating for the effective and efficient delivery of health services across the region, and has been instrumental in driving key discussions on issues such as low occupancy in Residential Aged Care services.
On occasion it also comments on national and state health policy issues such as: the process for electing members to Health Service Boards; the future of the After Hours Doctor On-Call Program; Commonwealth funding for Rural Health Services; and the restructuring of funding support for General Practitioners in rural settings.
