EAST GRAMPIANS HEALTH SERVICE LEADS THE STATE

East Grampians Health Service has led the state in the Department of Health : Victorian Health Service Performance Monitoring Framework. EGHS was the only service in Victoria to achieve 100%.

President of the EGHS Board, Ms Louise Staley said she was very pleased with the assessment and this highlights the great work of staff in all areas. “I thank all the Health Service staff and the great manner in which they all work together – Results like this are only achieved by teamwork. The leadership shown by Chief Executive Nick Bush and his executive team has also played a pivotal role in achieving these results”.

Ms Staley highlighted that the monitoring measures hospital activity, financial performance, health and aged care services accreditation, cleanliness and staff satisfaction.

“EGHS recorded a 100% point score and the next closest was a similar sized Health Service, Benalla District Health with a score of 96%. “The Health Service has taken a teaching and education focus. This includes bringing nurses education and training back to the hospital, and has resulted in supporting the Ararat Medical Centre to have third year medical students for a year as well as General Practice Registrars”, Ms Staley said.

Final year Dental students from La Trobe University spend 3 months training in Ararat.

Ms Staley said, “All staff are encouraged to teach and learn and we believe this is leading to improved care for our patients”.
