Breast Cancer Support Group new Chemotherapy chairs

For the past two years the Ararat Breast Cancer Support Group has been raising money for cancer equipment for the chemotherapy unit at EGHS. The events included morning teas and Pink Ribbon Day functions to not only raise money but to raise awareness of early detection of breast cancer.

The new Chemotherapy chairs are more comfortable than previous chairs and help make the cancer journey so much easier. The Chemotherapy patients spend up to four hours in the chairs and new reclining chairs make this experience more relaxing.

Mrs. Bev Walker and Mrs Kaye Fox, facilitators of the group, both passionately believe it is important to raise funds, raise awareness and crucial to keep the funds within the community of Ararat. Mrs Walker said “It is very rewarding to help out our local hospital and we are delighted to help provide the two new Chemotherapy chairs to the Oncology Unit”

EGHS Nurse Unit Manager, Lorine Paterson highlighted that the Ararat Breast Cancer Support Group for their support and Bev Walker and Kaye Fox who co-ordinate the group offer support to women with breast cancer and their families by providing regular meetings, telephone support and social occasions.

Mrs Paterson said, “we are so fortunate to have such committed, hardworking and generous people in our community such as the Ararat Breast Cancer Support Group and the Health Service is most grateful to the group for their support.”
